[Once Ren sees someone else posting on the network and figures out how to get her DTF to do the same without it just translating text for her, she starts her own quick broadcast. Ren is a young woman in her early twenties with messy short cut hair and visible muscle when she hunkers back into view.]

Hey, I'm Ren. I'm intending on settin' out a hunting party. I'm pretty good at scrounging up resources.

Now I can probably get ten squirrels or other small game relatively easy on my own. But, if anyone else has experience with tracking and huntin', I might be able to fell something bigger with help, meanin' more people can get fed comfortably. So far, I reckon our best bets are the alligators or deer. Deer would be easier to hunt but needs people with light feet, alligator takes more muscle to be able to do it safely.

If you know how to hunt and are willin' to help, make yourself known, but, besides that, people who can cook it'd be helpful too. Or just firewood 'nd stones that keep heat in them.

Looks like from a quick glance over the missions board that we could grab some flowers at the same time 'nd turn them in to creep runnin' the place for a stamp or somethin'? Might be worthwhile if someone wants to come along for numbers and grab that at the same time.

Besides that, if someone happens to come across an axe or somethin' like it, I'd be obliged to get my hands on it.

I'm not a hunter, but I can help cook food. I grew up with an older sister that taught me how to fend for myself, and helped raise my nephew. I can make Japanese food as well as some South American food for some variety if we ever get the ingredients for them.

And if it helps, I can help gather flowers as well.

I'm an archer. I know a thing or two about taking out some bigger animals. Cooking isn't my strongest suit, but I'm sure there are people here who can take care of that part.

An archer would be useful, if only to watch my back while I'm close quarters so I don't get ganged up on. I tend towards hand to hand and sheer muscle. [And claws and teeth, but, she doesn't need to scare him with that yet.]

Mmn, yeah, I don't mind cooking but I'd rather not have to if I'm bringin' home the food. I suppose I can gut and clean anything before I hand it off.

Yeah? [Okay, he's able to cook, that's a note in his favour.] Cool, it shouldn't take anything complex. A stew or even brazing the meat should do fine. From what I understand, there's some forgeable vegetables around the safer parts of the grasslands.

Might go some way towards bein' able to ask for a bloody axe to make this all easier.

[Fortunately, he's not useless, even if he can be childish or stubborn.] That should be simple enough, maybe this peacekeeper can let us get some spices too so we can have some different flavours as well. But an axe would be better to get first, before worrying about spices.

[Would be better than not having anything to use, especially if various things can be made besides stews. Noodles would be nice, for ramen.]

Strange how this peacekeeper expects us to survive, but doesn't give anything to help towards that. Aside from those strange cakes at that party that were definitely laced with something.

Might be able to scrounge something up. [Ren sighs.] We really need to start organising a proper effort between everyone. S'no good if everyone is buggering off and doing their own thing. You only end up with resource hoardin' that way. [But less on society building 101 another time.] I can do without an axe but it's useful for building, defence and hunting.

[And his comment on that does make her smirk slightly.] Aye, but that's intentional, right? The more people have to work together, the more they get t'knowin' each other or taking a liking to each other and-- [She waves a hand. There is a natural conclusion there, right?] everyone ends up real friendly.

You'll get no arguments from me here, already deal with people back home hoarding wealth.

[Even if he's one of them with more than enough money to be comfortable where he's from, being a professional athlete, though he at least has sense enough to help his friends out with that wealth. But it's not like he could just use that money here to help out.]

There's enough of us here, there's no reason we can't share the work on it. I don't know if this Peacekeeper thing plans to keep us fed, but I sure wouldn't trust it after that trick with the cake. Seems safer to do like you're suggesting and take care of ourselves as much as possible.

Yeah, I heard about the cake. Never been so glad t'miss a party in my life. [She had been too busy having an existential crisis to enjoy the celebrations.] Don't need anything messing with my head like that.

Yeah, it was sure a surprising introduction. Try to blend in at a party and end up...well, never mind.

I've been shooting arrows since I could walk. I'm not just good.

[ He lets himself brag a little there, but it's not unwarranted. ]

I know you don't have much reason to trust me since we just met and all. I get that. But if you're hunting with me, you're in absolutely no danger of stray arrows ruining your day.

You goin' to be able to get your hands on a bow t'shoot with or do you need to build one? I think I saw some hickory out in the grasslands that'd make a fair structure. I know how t'forge basic stuff but anything complex and we're shit out of luck.

[She hates the idea of wasting her first requests on a forge to make things, but also, the more stuff she can make, the less she has to ask for. Ah, dilemmas!

And then dryly, as the thought just occurred to her she comments:] Well, it ain't like you can kill me, right?

Never grew up in something like that, myself, but it sounds like the way to go.

[There's a snort as he shakes his head, grateful that no families are asked to be made. Helping raise his nephew, and babysitting teammates kids was plenty enough.]

Yeah, just sex, which I don't mind. If it did ask us to make families, I'd do whatever I could to change its mind. I'm not interested in settling down when I have a career that's just getting started. [A brief pause, raising an eyebrow] What was that place like?

So far, doesn't seem to be much in the way of weapons. I'll have to build one. Kind of silly that this place was built for us to live, we got animal life, but nothing to reliably make anything to hunt animal life. We're reduced to, what, making weapons out of stones? I know a lot of things, but that's a bit primitive.

[ He's lighthearted about this, but his concern here is real. ]

[ That's mostly rhetorical. ]

[His concern is valid and Ren knows that back home some of the elders of her sept - hell, some of her packmates even - would go on a long rant about how it was the way things were supposed to be because tools were of the Weaver and therefore bad. Thankfully, she was just a simple Ahroun and didn't have to concern herself about those philosophical quandaries much.] Teeth, claws, physical might. Y'can make a fair weapon out of a sharpened stick or a torch. Beside that, traps 'nd snares might the easiest way to go.

From what I remember of it, it wasn't too different to this - uh - slightly more new? Like, I don't remember it bein' as broken down and effed up as this place is. 'Nd there was robot people running about the place and telling you what to do. And there was none of this punch card, it was more like a chart? Auspicious Acts? They were trying to get people to bang still but [Ren shrugs.] I honestly didn't think it was real. I thought it was just some screwed up dream I'd had 'til I turfed up and clocked Rosie.

I agree with you about traps and things. I'm okay with those sorts of things, but I'd still] prefer the archery route.

[ This is a little bit misleading; he's more than "okay" at traps and snares. But old habits! He prefers if people think he's some cushy noble without the breadth of knowledge he has from his Almyran heritage. ]

An orgy just to get weapons. Well, I guess it's not out of the question, but I think some of us are going to be hard-pressed to agree to such a thing...

[ Claude himself isn't sure he's on board, considering he knows too many of the other people here from home and that seems awkward, but he can joke about it at least! ]

Well, I'd say that...TV is two letters. I'm extrapolating here that it's short for tele and vision, though how those words mean something together, I wouldn't know. I'm dying for you to explain it to me so I can lord this newfound knowledge over everyone else from Fódland, though.

But lucky for Claude, ~~she managed to roll two successes on three dice~~ one of her packmates is a Glasswalker who likes to talk a lot, so her explanation is relatively good.]

So, say you're watchin' someone tell a story? Normally you've got to be up close to hear and see them. With a television y'can hear and see that story from the other side of the world. Someone makes a recording of it - a copy of what's happening right there, as if you was watchin' it, and then - and sends a copy of that recordin' to the televisions. Televisions are like...uh, like big mirrors, right? [And Ren gestures at the size of a small television set.] But like cube, 'nd there is a glass plane on the front.

When you look into the glass plane, you can see and hear that story as close as if you was there in person. Only, people purposefully record stories and, uh, events and news, so everyone can share and hear them. Sometimes they make stuff up, like plays? 'nd people get paid a lot of money to make the plays and shows for the television.

[She daresn't tell him about cinemas.] Uhhh, I might've explained that bad. Normally I'd just hop on my phone 'nd show you, but I ain't got it with me. I'm always losing that sucker.
